Belarus submits EAEU biosafety strategy to ECE Council

MOSCOW, Nov 10 (BelTA) – Belarus has submitted the issue of developing a biosafety strategy for the Eurasian Economic Union (EAE) to the next session of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission with the participation of vice -First ministers of the Five Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) representative Iya Malkina said at a press briefing on November 10, BelTA has learned.

“At the initiative of the Belarusian side, the issue of developing a biosafety strategy of the EAEU will be discussed,” said Iya Malkina.

A total of 16 questions are on the agenda. “The Deputy Prime Ministers will discuss the amendments to the EAEU Treaty in the framework of determining the procedure for collecting indirect taxes when providing online services. Plans are in place to consider coordinated approaches to finalize a draft agreement on a harmonized system for determining the origin of goods exported from the customs territory of the EAEU, ”said the representative of the EEC.

The agenda also includes technical regulations “On the safety of metro rolling stock”, “On the safety of high voltage equipment”. “On the initiative of Kazakhstan, it is planned to discuss the issue of restricting the export of certain types of timber from the territory of Russia,” said Iya Malkina.

According to her, a committee meeting to eliminate differences and controversial situations and ensure the free movement of goods in the EAEU is scheduled for November 11. The agenda includes the functioning of the medical devices market after January 1, 2022 and the order to import into the EAEU territory of products subject to mandatory conformity assessment.
